Chicken Teriyaki Burgers with Sesame Slaw Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Teriyaki Burgers:
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 burger buns
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For the Sesame Slaw:
- 2 cups shredded cabbage (green and/or red)
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 1/2 cup edamame, shelled and cooked
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
For the Dressing:
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Slaw:
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, julienned carrot, edamame, green onions, and sesame seeds.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, grated ginger, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the dressing over the slaw and toss to combine. Refrigerate until ready to use.
2. Make the Chicken Patties:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, teriyaki sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, breadcrumbs, egg, and green onions. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.
3. Cook the Patties:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are golden brown and cooked through.
4. Assemble the Burgers:
- Toast the burger buns in a skillet or a toaster.
- Place a chicken patty on the bottom half of each bun.
- Top each patty with a generous serving of sesame slaw.
- Cover with the top half of the bun.
5. Serve:
- Serve the chicken teriyaki burgers with extra sesame slaw on the side and enjoy!
