Chicken Teriyaki Burgers with Sesame Slaw Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Teriyaki Burgers:

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For the Sesame Slaw:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (green and/or red)
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1/2 cup edamame, shelled and cooked
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

For the Dressing:

  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Slaw:

  • In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, julienned carrot, edamame, green onions, and sesame seeds.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, grated ginger, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour the dressing over the slaw and toss to combine. Refrigerate until ready to use.

2. Make the Chicken Patties:

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, teriyaki sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, breadcrumbs, egg, and green onions. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties. Season with salt and pepper on both sides.

3. Cook the Patties:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chicken patties and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are golden brown and cooked through.

4. Assemble the Burgers:

  • Toast the burger buns in a skillet or a toaster.
  • Place a chicken patty on the bottom half of each bun.
  • Top each patty with a generous serving of sesame slaw.
  • Cover with the top half of the bun.

5. Serve:
